Finally the wait is over... The music of Ik Kudi Punjab Di is out now!

As promised, we at Singh Speaks are here to review the most awaited album of the season.

Lets get straight to the point, does Ik Kudi Punjab Di deliver what it promised? The answer to this is Yes, it certainly does! The detailed review follows...

The album opens with Socha Vich Tu sung by Amrinder Gill & lyrics by Amardeep Gill. Socha Vich Tu is a romantic song which has a chart-buster appeal and should connect to the audiences at the first go. The video further cements this statement of mine. Excellent.
(There's another remix version of the same song followed at the end of the album which is also very good.)

Up next is the title track Ik Kudi Punjab Di sung by Sukshinder Shinda & Amrinder Gill. It has that uplifting power that Punjab music usually has but what makes it special is the women centric lyrics by Amardeep Gill. This particular song should be declared the State Anthem for Women Upliftment and should be played in every nukkuds and melas of Punjab atleast once for the next few years to stop discrimination against women in Punjab. The music that we heard in the first promo (here) is actually from this particular track and certainly Ik Kudi Punjab Di is another chart-buster from the album. Excellent.

Its a 2 on 2 so far... Lets find out what follows next

Pyar Lai Ke a soft sad/romantic (sung by Amrinder Gill & Lyrics by Amardeep Gill) is just okay and shall appeal only to that section of the youth who like sad kind of songs. Its not that the lyrics are bad but the song in itself lacks the universal appeal. We shall wait for the video to comment further. It may look well with the video in the film. Average

What follows next is another chartbuster Salaaman which is surely going to have instant fan following in all kinds of audiences, be it youth, oldies, ladies and kids. It's that one song that every singer, every film would want to have in their kitty. Full of energy, beats and not to forget the great lyrics by guest lyricist Jhalman Singh Dhanda & Rana Madojhmandia. Somewhere you do feel that the energy level could have been much much higher but this is how Maanji's (Manmohan Singh) film are - soft and lively. Very Good

Up next is Tera Mera Na, which is another romantic track sung by Amrinder Gill and (Surprise!! Surprise!!) Pamela Jain. The song is a typical filmy type of song with beautiful lyrics by Nimma Loharkan. The song may not become that trend-setter or a legendary kind of song but is sure to find an instant liking amongst the youth once the videos are out because of its intellectual music & good singing. Good

Next follows Dhin Tak Dhin which is an unusual comic song by Amrinder Gill, Labh Janjua, Rana Ranbir, Arvinder Singh & Bobby Sandhu. Dhin Tak Dhin sounds like a completely situational song which shall be loved universally due to the meaningful & important lyrics by Rana Ranbir but only with the video. The rapping by Bobby Sandhu is good. Average

Gal Teri is another romantic song by Amrinder Gill with lyrics by Harjit Sidaki. Its a very soulful song which shall appeal immediately once you hear the starting music but as I mentioned in the other romantic Tera Mera Na, Gal Meri would come at the charts peacefully and go off peacefully without much noise. However, in the longer run it shall appeal to a selected audience that is the youth. Good

Music by Sukshinder Shinda is good and shows off his versatility as a composer. Amrinder Gill is a rockstar and this film will prove this further.

Overall, The music of Ik Kudi Punjab Di is very good and shall appeal to the audiences not only on the Star Power of Amrinder Gill-Sukshinder Shinda-Manmohan Singh combo but also on its own merits. Songs like Ik Kudi Punjab Di, Salaaman & Socha Vich Tu are Chartbusters tracks and should rule the lists of the Top Punjabi Songs for weeks to come. Other romantic songs Tera Mera Na & Gal Teri should further increase the appeal of the movie.

Rating: 3.5 (Very Good)
